Internet's Longest Running Weekly Video Game Program to Celebrate 10 Years of Broadcasting
Internet's Longest Running Weekly Video Game Program to Celebrate 10 Years of Broadcasting:
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA - Orange Lounge Radio, the internet's longest running weekly video game program, will celebrate 10 years of broadcasting on Sunday, June 24th, 2012.
Launched with Episode 1 on June 23rd, 2002, Orange Lounge Radio was formed by three avid gamers who all met each other at a local arcade playing Konami's Dance Dance Revolution. The three hosts of Orange Lounge Radio are Rob Roberts, Jamie Summers, and "LOKI". Orange Lounge Radio, often called "OLR" for short, was originally founded to discuss the culture surrounding music based video games, and the community, tournaments, and live events that came of it.
Throughout its history as a music-game focused show, Orange Lounge Radio broadcast live from music game tournaments in Sacramento as well as San Francisco's famed Pier 39. During this tenure, OLR not only interviewed several of the music makers from the games they discussed, but the show was nominated for several "Best of Live365" awards.
When the podcasting technology was growing in late 2004 / early 2005, Orange Lounge Radio decided to launch a podcast called the Orange Lounge Radio: To Go edition, which became a discussion forum on general console and PC gaming topics. Orange Lounge Radio: To Go won the very first Podcast Award for Best Gaming Podcast in 2005. The popularity of podcasting rose when iTunes supported podcasting in June 2005, and the music game community declined before the release of games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Due to this, Orange Lounge Radio merged the live show and podcast together with Episode #170 of Orange Lounge Radio in January of 2006.
This new Orange Lounge Radio focused on letting every gamer have a voice on the current happenings in the video game industry, pioneering such technologies as taking live skype calls on air, as well as listener e-mails and live chatroom.
Orange Lounge Radio LIVE continued broadcasting on the Live365 network until 2008, when Orange Lounge Radio joined the All Games Radio network. Orange Lounge Radio continued on the All Games Radio network until April 2012 when Orange Lounge Radio co-founded a new network called the Voice Of Geeks Network or VOG Network.
Episode #462 of Orange Lounge Radio will tape LIVE on June 24th, 2012 at the VOG Network. Special guests and listeners from the 10 year history of the show will join Rob, Jamie and LOKI live in studio as well as via Skype. Clips from the show's large history will be re-broadcast, and fans of the show are encouraged to leave messages for possible re-broadcast all week long via OLR's "Skypeline".
"We hope all of our listeners from the past 10 years will stop in to say hello this weekend" says Rob Roberts, one of the hosts of the show. "This achievement would not be possible without the interaction and support our live and podcast listeners have given us over the past 461 episodes."
Episode 462 of Orange Lounge Radio, OLR's 10th Anniversary Special, can be heard live on Sunday, June 24th, 2012 at 6PM Pacific / 9PM Eastern at the Voice of Geeks Network. A special one-time VOG Network "Loot" reward will be available to those registered with VOG Network who "check-in" to the show live. The episode will be available via podcast shortly after the show concludes at http://www.orangeloungeradio.com
