So, my introduction to both J-Pop and K-Pop was Dance Dance Revolution. My first experience with DDR was the old 3rd Mix Korean V2 machine back at the local Putt-Putt (minigolf w/ arcade) where I live. Here is the old songlist if you guys don't remember or need a refresher. Anybody remembers those songs? Yes I do, especially the Korean songs that were thrown in there. I believe these tracks were only available in the two Korean versions of 3rd Mix and the DDR 3rd Mix Plus release, in which they translated the Hangul titles into English. So who were these groups behind the tracks featured in this release of DDR, well lets find out and take a trip back memory lane. Lee Jung Hyun (이정현) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Jung-hyun Released on October 1st, 1999 off her "Let's Go To My Star" album, two songs of her have been featured in DDR. Those songs were 바꿔 (Bakkwo / Change) and 와 (Wa / Come). --Bakkwo official m/v --Wa official m/v So, were is she now? Well, she's still pretty active today. Her last album "007th" was released in 2010 and she's been in some K-Drama's and films as recently as 2012 (범죄소년/Juvenile Offender). As a bonus, here is some live performances of her... Baek Ji-Young (백지영) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baek_Ji-Young Released on July 10th, 1999 of her "Volume 1 - Sorrow" album, her song 부담 (Budam/Burden) was featured in DDR. --Budam official m/v So, were is she now? Oh, she's still active to this day. Ji-Young's latest song Hate, m/v debuted 12/18/2012, is a ballad that really shows her musical talent. Here is some of her live performances. Team (팀) http://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%ED%8C%80_%28%EA%B0%80%EC%88%98%29 Since the Wikipedia entry is in Korean and there is no English translation, I'll do my best. Apparently to the entry, his name is Timothy Youngmin Hwang (황영민) went by the stage name Team. His single, 별 (Byul/Farewell) was featured in DDR. --Byul official m/v So where is he now, well kind of hard to say. According to the wiki, he's been doing musicials as of 2012 as well as still releasing new music. Here is him doing a live performance. Post is WIP, will post more soon |

While K-pop isn't normally my thing, I *was* a little bit into it about 10 years before gangnam style took over the planet. Case in point my favorite DDR 3rd MIX Korean song, FACE by NRG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXBFm92wivw |
