I’m disappointed with the producers of the Last Ship and Hamilton for preempting and modifying their respective shows following the Orlando attack. I understand that they were trying to find some way to help in the wake of the tragedy, but buy restricting their own freedom of expression they’re only helping our enemy to win. The whole goal of terrorism is to force through fear and intimidation a group or nation to curtail or modify its own beliefs and practices for the sake of safety. Although the producers of both shows were only trying to respect the fallen through self censorship, in my opinion they really sent a clear message to our enemy that their methods are working. As it was TNT had already previewed the first episode of the Last Ship in May and other then the fact that the battle took place in a night club I see no similarities between the fiction of a TV show and the reality of the attack in Orlando. Hamilton has already had hundreds of showings. Honestly if I worked for TNT or on Broadway I would have responded by running a nonstop marathon of the Last Ship and for Hamilton a free Time Square performance with prop pistols clearly in hand.
