...Well, they're now here...starting with this week's Bobby Blackwolf Show and Orange Lounge Radio!
So, if you understand the Live Checkin idea, the Podcast Checkin idea is very similar. In fact, it's designed to give those who can't be here live the same opportunities for Points as those who can be here live.
Here's the explanation page. You'll notice that the area to put in the passphrase is right underneath the leaderboard on the left of every page.
The passphrase will be inserted into selected podcast episodes AFTER their live counterparts air, so you won't get the passphrase by listening live. Tonight's shows will have them in a very obvious place, but in the future, they will be very small snippets inserted into a random area of the show. This is designed to get you to listen to the rest of the show, rather than just going in for the passphrase. We're sneaky like that.
Now, if you checked into the live show, you won't get double points for checking into the podcast. BUT, you can still check in and receive credit in places like the "Podcast Checkin" area of your site profile. And, there might still be some loot based on how many episodes you've checked in, and there might even be some special loot for people who checked into both the live show and podcast for consecutive weeks...
A couple of notes - the passphrase is ONLY valid while that episode is the newest episode on the feed. Once a newer episode appears, the passphrase will be invalid, and that means you get no credit. Also, the passphrase generator that we use is completely random, so no matter how many in-jokes you try to slam in there, you'll get nothing. And I checked, "ferret" is NOT in the word list that we randomly pull from. The hosts cannot actually specify the word. We also WILL know if you spam a bunch of words into the system...So don't do it.
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE ALL THINKING: Yes, this feature is open for exploitation. We thought of that too, but we thought the idea was too neat to pass up. So, here's the deal: We will delete ANY mentions of specific passphrases while they are valid from the forum, and I can see everything that goes on in the chat room as well. If we find that you are giving out passphrases, we have the right to revoke points from all those we find to be involved. I didn't code in a system that will just ban you from the game and not the forums...It's an all inclusive thing. So just don't do it.
FOR THE FIRST MONTH the only shows participating are The Bobby Blackwolf Show, Orange Lounge Radio, and Under Sedation Live. (USL will begin with next week's episode, not the one that they recorded last night.)
