Champions of the Coast 2015 happened last weekend at 8 on the Break. It's the annual tournament on, well, every music game they have. This year's tournament featured competitions on DDR X3 (Single & Double), In The Groove, beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA, jubeat Saucer Fulfill, pop'n music Sunny Park, DJMAX Technika 3, ReRave Plus, Pump It Up PRIME, DrumMania V8...and even a tournament in Simon. Yes, THAT Simon. Everyone got just one try. The winning score was a whopping 25. (We used a free Android app called UltraZimon. It's excellent, by the way, and has no in-app purchases.) Other fun little side tournaments included...a Breaksteak eating contest. 8otb's famous Breaksteaks have been served for many years. Good, cheap food. But to try to eat 3 of them back to back before going right back to dance games? Daunting, to say the least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI_QrlE-Y3s But for many, one of the big highlights was the Saturday night DDR Freestyle tournament. Now, Kyle Ward stopped by for CotC this year. He didn't compete in anything (I can only assume he was there to discuss one of his new top-secret projects with Mr. Cotty), but he did provide excellent company throughout the weekend...and, jumped on after the other routines had been performed to put on a fantastic exhibition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozj3deh7baI Want to see the other freestyles? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... I think my favorite part of his routine was the In The Groove t-shirt, haha! though that was a pretty sweet routine, I totally miss those days. |
