Horde House

Episode 162: You Don't Understand how it Works!

Grandpa and Rob are by themselves this week to watch Grandpa drink more, and more, and more, and offer some… uncensored commentary on this weeks news. This includes a not-so popular implementation patch of personal housing in the latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV.

Our hosts get into a lively discussion as well about the great name purge coming to World of Warcraft. Is this a good thing? Could there be a very strong impact to a small group? Will Grandpa be able to subtract four from fourteen correctly? Find out on this week’s show!

All this and MORE on the show about ALL things online gaming but NEVER too SRSLY- HORDE HOUSE!

And yeah I'm with Rob, retiring the names of prominent players who passed away on a specific server is no big deal. I know after a major guild leader who had all of the keys and attunements for the top Horde raiding guild on my old server died in a car accident, they were able to contact the GMs and get that stuff transferred to another guild member who was close to him and knew his family in a matter of days because it was a special circumstance. I'm sure it's just as easy if not even easier to flag a name for retirement if enough guildees report on it.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think $2.5 billion is a great deal for something as huge as Minecraft. I'm pretty sure those flash-in-the-pan examples have already all come and gone, but Minecraft is still going strong. Also, like you said, it's huge with kids, plus the same producers of the successful LEGO movie are making a Minecraft movie now as well. If someone bought LEGOs for $2.5 billion in the early stages of its popularity they would have seen an amazing return on investment now, and I think that's a much more fair comparison than Farmville or Candy Crush Saga. Minecraft is much more than just a video game franchise at this point.
