Horde House

Episode Eighty-Eight: Bob Ross Icon Descriptions

We were supposed to take the week off, but with all the 5.2 news that came out just before Christmas, we couldn't help but do a LIVE show. So we taped this weeks show LIVE at vognetwork.com to talk about all the latest on what is known about 5.2.

That doesn't stop us from talking about some of the other goings on in the game right now including hunter pets and pet battle updates. Also, a tweet sent to us reminds us that it is the last show of the year, so we reflect on 2012 in WoW, and look forward to 2013.

A lengthy discussion ensues when one e-mailer sends us his video of the raid that just made him call it quits. After eight years of the World of Warcraft, have we finally found ourselves fed up with a certain type of “drill sergeant attitude in the game?

All this and MORE including our weeks in Azeroth, more tweets, e-mails and live chat comments on the show about ALL things World of Warcraft but NEVER too SRSLY– HORDE HOUSE!

This is in response to the linked video that i did watch over 2 hours of.

Elitist mentality is something that has always been in this game. There was a phrase i herd A LOT about during the second year of me playing wow. "I thought crap players couldn't get past gnomeregan" my retort to that is "Anyone gets anywhere with time and effort"

These people want only to be with like minded people. And the people at the top don't tend to be very nice. They don't excuse people for not knowing everything about the game inside and out. And they would rather have 9 clones of themselves than have to party with other people. Their enjoyment comes from that simple sigh and breath of accomplishment that they earn from hundreds of hours of slamming their heads against the wall. And from seeing imaginary numbers go up.

I think we're all agreed that its a game... and we would rather have more fun with it than that... that's why we're playing it. And for those that aren't...

Well i realized at one point i was an elitist fucking jerk. And i couldn't find a solution to playing wow without being one. I did everyone a favor and left. I didn't have much friends near the end anyway.

For those that do wonder... yes there are some humans that are amongst those that are doing the most difficult stuff in the game. Even those that are kind, generous, fun, outgoing people. But finding a guild that's just right for you will be a lot easier than finding those few people that you can stand doing hardcore raids with.

I don't defend their actions... its inexcusable as a person. But i hate to watch the video and attempt to empathize with either side. However you good sir are looking for the better way out... I commend you, and wish you luck. ^.^

Great reply-- I did try to cut the guy what slack I could on the show, that some people might benefit from that sort of drill sergeant attitude. Sadly I'm not surprised at all at that conclusion though, and I really don't blame Jailinx for snapping and quitting.

Here's what pisses me off-- and I don't think it was communicated very well in last nights show by me-- It's that attitude leaking over into LFR that's ruining the game for some people right now. The rest of us DIDN'T sign up for the drill sergeant attitude. People need to get off their high horses and calm their tits, or there's going to be no one left to yell at.

What's that old saying, "you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar"? There's no reason a heroic progression groups leader can't be a bit more.... well, calm in their leadership. But maybe that style would have pissed someone else off... it's so hard to say/speculate. But when going into LFR... check your attitudes at the door and show a little respect to others.

Anyhow, thanks for the reply. It sounds like you've "grown up" a lot thanks to the game and maybe the things you didn't like that it was doing. Crazy question-- have you tried going back?

I moved on rather quickly. Raiding with a great group now. Thanks for the thumbs up on my quitting.

Also - the last 5 raids are all that's archived, so yeah, the old raid was missing now.

Wow, should I take credit now that you guys are all warming up to scenarios?
Also, regarding hunter pets, it's the reason Hunters are one of my favorite classes in the game. I love that Blizzard will let you keep pets you tame via exploit, even after they fix it. I still have a flaming boar and a ghostly wolf with a sword in its head.

In Grandpa's defense, Rob, he did say he reduced his maid service to once a month while unemployed. :P

I actually don't like the tier 15 set heh (I may be the only one) it looks like a warlock set and i think it looks funky on a Tauren (Especially the face)
Think i'll transmog the leopard set from tier 14 for the next tier.

(I have only liked 1 set (tier 14) before i saw it in game, the only set i still hated after i saw it in game was tier 2)

Its all personal opinion of course.

I had internet, but also had screaming kids that refused to go to bed, so I had to duck out of chat after the first 10 minutes. It was a good show though, even without Xtofer.
