Horde House

Episode 101: Horde House 101

On this special episode of Horde House, we break our usual format to take the show back to basics. We recognize we have some people that listen to the show who might not really “get” what WoW is all about. We might also have some newer listeners who want to hear some more basic information about how we got into the game and why we play the game. We talk about all this and more including classes, professions and endgame.

Hope you enjoy this special episode, and we will be back to our “normal” format next week!

Very curious what people thought of the "special" show as it was a bit of an experiment. I'm curious if people would be into other special single topic themed shows in the future, or if our regular format is preferred. Obviously we wouldn't do something so beginner focused again for the forseeable future, but that doesn't mean other beginner friendly/accessable topics are out of the question.

I was pleaseantly surprised by how many questions we got from non-WoW players in the chatroom. I hadn't planned on that being such a factor in the show, I had a list of talking points pre-written up but we hardly needed them.

I prefer the regular format for sure. This special episode wasn't bad or anything, but it felt like a different podcast. Of course the subject matter wasn't really aimed at me so who knows, if you guys did a different theme again maybe next time it would work better for me. It was cool hearing all the feedback from non-WoW players in chat though.

But here's the big question: After listening to Horde House 101 is Tigerclaw ready to take the plunge and get into WoW?

OK, since it was kind of a theme on the show, I got into WoW because all my friends left Final Fantasy XI to play in the WoW beta and when my roommate decided he would leave too, I joined him. I continued playing with friends and eventually even met my wife in game before I met her in real life.

I only play this game with other people, and if everyone I knew quit the game then I would too. It is a fun game, but I really don't get the same enjoyment strictly from solo content. There are so many great single player experiences outside of the MMO genre whereas in WoW it's just kind of tacked on to fill time when your friends aren't online, in my personal opinion.
