Horde House
Howdy ya'll and welcome to The Best Little Horde House in Azeroth. Internet radio & podcasting veterans Rob Roberts and Xtofer, and their wine loving friend Grandpa bring you a weekly dose of Azeroth news and updates from an honest yet sometimes sassy perspective. Join us for our antics each week as we invite special guests to pull up a chair with us and poke a little fun at one of our past times.
You can’t prepare your Mr. Garrison for this invasion, one of our hosts has made a return to World of Warcraft for the Warlords of Draenor expansion. Some thoughts are presented as well as the inevitable comparison to other MMOs out there. How is WoW holding up after ten years?
In the news tonight, Jaina Proudmoore comes to Heroes of the Storm, and Grampa paid ten whole dollars for her! Was it worth it? Also, if you spent money on one “free to play” MMO, you might have been met with a whole chunk of downtime recently. How do the game makers plan to make it right?
It’s a pre-thanksgiving edition of our program, and we have lots of guest cameos tonight just like any good holiday special should. Flaco and Allen join us in studio, where there is much talk about World of Warcraft’s recent expansion- Warlords of Draenor. Why have some of us resisted the urge to try it? Why have others resigned to the foregone conclusion they’re going to play it? And how about that 10 million subscriber number, can it hold?
There’s some non-blizzard news too, including other MMO games getting DDoS’ed (yuck), and one game that isn’t going to be screened for critics in advance. Is this to preserve the online experience, or to preserve the secret that it might be crap?
A lot of the online gaming news this week focuses on Blizzard. Between Blizzcon and the Warlords launch, Blizzard is having a busy week! We are joined by special guest Salty of the Bitter & Salty podcast, who joins Rob in talking about their experiences at the show, including impressions of the exclusive footage of the Warcraft movie. Grandpa and Xtofer chime in with what they observed from partaking in the show at home.
Grandpa brings us some Star Trek Online News, Xtofer has some some surprising thoughts on Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Grandpa has a very full mailbag tonight including e-mails on the woes of pre-ordering and Final Fantasy XIV’s cash shop.
Just days before Blizzard’s big Blizzcon event, what better time to play everyone’s favorite podcast game– MAKE PREDICTIONS! We don some giant tin foil hats and speculate what could be in store for Starcraft, Heroes, Hearthstone, Diablo, Warcraft and more! All will be revealed in mere hours, but we hope you’ll stop by World of Podcasts and say hi to Rob. Never mind his RBF.
There’s other online games in the world besides Blizzard, and we also have some updates tonight on Everquest, Elder Scrolls Online, and one EA game that is going away before it ever really got started.
A special delivery brings Grampa LIVE to the studio at Rob Roberts house? What antics happen when two of the hosts are together in real life? Or is Grampa too distracted by baseball for anything to actually happen? Ermagerd!
In gaming, Xtofer has spent a little time with a new feature on the Playstation 4, Share Play, that’s set to potentially change console gaming as we know it. Speaking of console gaming, Destiny has a new expansion announced with an oddly familiar name, but not everyone is happy with the details.
Final Fantasy XIV patch impressions, World of Warcraft expansion value updates and much more round out our news this week.
Rob is back from Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Las Vegas, and breaks down the details. There were some things he liked… and things he didn’t like. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Not on Horde House!
Back in the land of Blizzard, WoW 6.0 rolled out during our week off, how has expansion anticipation affected the subscriber numbers? Grandpa details the latest Star Trek Online expansion, and Xtofer tells us about why we may soon return to Mario Kart 8.
We are joined this week by Delvin from the Video Game Realness podcast, a long time MMO player, to talk about his adventures in all the MMOs and the very current Smash Bros on 3DS and how well… or how unwell it plays online against others.
Grandpa has had it officially with one company he’s been supporting for over ten years, and you might be very surprised at the reasons why. In the news, we talk about Diablo 3’s patch for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and the places you weren’t meant to visit yet in Destiny.
We welcome Vee from askmrrobot.com, to talk with us about this website tool that MANY world of Warcraft players rely on for their gems and reforges. How will the site evolve heading into Warlords of Draenor? Vee dishes with us on how Mr. Robot will be evolving, then promises to dish up some ice cream with us at a later date!
In the news, we talk about a game that’s turning 17 years old, and how Warcraft may soon allow you to bring characters back from the land of deletion. Hopefully your character will never find out that they were so unwanted…
Did you hear the one about Titan getting cancelled? Oh, you did? Well okay, we still give our perspectives on this game we may never know truly about… or have some leaks on the inside shown that this game may have a lot in common with a recently released console success?
We tackle the news coming from other MMO’s as well, including a free trial starting very soon for Guild Wars 2, as well as a patch title reveal for Final Fantasy XIV’s next major content patch!
Grandpa and Rob are by themselves this week to watch Grandpa drink more, and more, and more, and offer some… uncensored commentary on this weeks news. This includes a not-so popular implementation patch of personal housing in the latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV.
Our hosts get into a lively discussion as well about the great name purge coming to World of Warcraft. Is this a good thing? Could there be a very strong impact to a small group? Will Grandpa be able to subtract four from fourteen correctly? Find out on this week’s show!
