I Love That Song: Relaxing During the Summer
Derpidety -- Summer's Over
I have covered a wide variety of genres on VOG’s run of “I Love That Song”, some that I have liked, some that have surprised me and maybe others that have not been that great (“Gimme F”…). Now we have a new genre in store for this article, indie rock, with the band Derpidety. They have a really great song, so grab your lawn chair, grab an ice cold lemonade or tea, sit back and enjoy this marvelous track.
Derpidety is an artist that focuses mostly on instrumental/acoustic indie rock pieces. He has another project called “Kind Tide” which combines acoustic and electronic instruments, aside for being a bit more melodic. Though this song is under his first artistic name, it takes some of the melodic influences from this other project to make a truly wonderful and captivating song.
This track is mostly instrumentals, no vocals, but it does not need them. Most of his songs are more about the ambiance than trying to convey a message through lyrics. Some of his songs are about journeys and adventure, but this one in particular is more relaxing despite having a somewhat upbeat rhythm to it. That is probably why I like this song so much. Seriously, I can just sit on my chair doing other stuff while playing this song on loop for a good while. In fact, I had this song stuck on my head for quite a while that I could not stop listening to it all.
Despite it being a song about the summer being over, I feel it is more like a song of reminiscence. You can listen to this song at any time of year and it will help you remember the good times you have had so far, while also looking forward to what the future may bring.
This song is good for many reasons and I hope that you liked it. For more songs from Derpidety/Kind Tide, you can check his YouTube channel or Bandcamp page.
For now, that is all for this article, but be sure to leave a comment down below (remember, you can gain VOG game points and win prizes!). And if you have a song you want it to be featured in a future ILTS article, go to the Requests Thread on the VOG Forums and leave a post there!
Until next time, keep on travelin’!
