VOG: The Game Wrapup For July 2012
Another month has gone by, and VOG: The Game has closed out yet another leaderboard. In true NBC fashion, I will tape delay the leaderboard to generate suspense.
Bob Costas would want you to know the story behind the numbers, and I, Bobby Blackwolf, am no different.
We all want to thank those of you with your continued support of all of our content. We work hard to produce this content and knowing you're out there makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
We aren't stopping development of new features on the site. While Rob is out getting new article content, I am deep in coding a brand new "game element" for the site that is more involved than anything we've done so far. This will be a recurring element, but is totally shaped by you over a two week period. It will be ready in the next few weeks.
However, in the short term, we have a NEW podcast offering Podcast Checkins - Horde House! This is the first podcast that does NOT have a Live broadcast, so the ONLY way to receive 5 Points from this show is to listen to it either on it's VOG airing, or via podcast. The passphrase WILL be said on the airing on VOG, but will not be activated until the podcast episode appears on our site. Podcast Checkins will begin with Episode Seventy.
So I guess you want to see the results. NBC says you should wait until primetime, but you can get into our chat room and have act_deft spoil the winner for you.
To that end, this will be act_deft's final appearance in the normal Participant leaderboard. He has written some articles for us as an audition, and we will be promoting him to full on staff member/content creator this month so he can continue his popular I Love That Song! series. Right now, though, I'm being a dick (as all GM's are allowed to be at least once) and leaving him with everyone else this month. I'm sure you'll guess why.
Since we don't have any Michael Phelps races to show you, it's time to show you the results. After narrowly missing out on the top prize by an hour and a half in June, Auspher comes away with a clear victory! Last month's winner, TigerClaw, went on a very nice vacation and missed a week of participating, so we'll make fun of him because we're very jealous and wished we were on that vacation instead.
And now, the top 30, not counting VOG staff and content creators as of July 1st:
So what about those of us who create content? Last month, Travis Donovan of Under Sedation Live ran away with the top spot...
So in the immortal words of Travis Donovan in the most disliked comment on the entire site:
Erm, I mean, good game, y'all!
Some Stats
Bob Costas would want you to know the story behind the numbers, and I, Bobby Blackwolf, am no different.
- Comments: 35 Participants left 226 comments, with Auspher leaving the most with 43. PodCulture was a distant second with 32.
- Likes: 24 Participants had their comments liked - 114 comments were liked total. Auspher was the most liked commenter on the site, grabbing 16 likes for his words. But, act_deft was not far behind with 15.
- Liking others: 23 Participants liked others comments, with Auspher being the most giving by liking 24 comments. CloverNikon was the second most giving with 19.
- Live Checkins: There were 14 scheduled live checkin opportunities, and 51 different Participants took advantage of them. DarkTetsuya and TravisDonovan checked into all 14 live events, PodCulture checked into 13, and ObiWanJabronE, act_deft, and immortal_king checked into 12.
- Podcast Checkins: New to July was the Podcast Checkin feature, which had the same amount of 14 opportunities. Auspher and Jinnai702 made the most use of this feature, with 13 checkins each. Degenerate Johnny checked into 10 podcasts, Ramaditya checked into 9, and then ajTwist and I3linder checked into 8.
- Combined Checkins: While you CAN check into both the live event AND the podcast, you only receive Point credit for one. That didn't stop 17 Participants for checking into both the live event and podcast for at least one episode, with Auspher testing the feature the most 7 times. The following Participants checked into all 14 events either live or via podcast: Auspher, TravisDonovan, act_deft, ObiWanJabronE, DarkTetsuya, I3linder, and Bobby Blackwolf. PodCulture, immortal_king, and Jinnai702 each missed one opportunity and ended up with 13. Misty, skie, Degenerate Johnny, and Ramaditya ended with 12.
- Loot: 66 pieces of Loot dropped, going to 19 different Participants. Auspher stashed the most with 8, I3linder, Bobby Blackwolf, and act_deft took home 7, and PodCulture raked in 6.
We all want to thank those of you with your continued support of all of our content. We work hard to produce this content and knowing you're out there makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
